Court Jester
Cake - Vanilla
Frosting - Rolled Buttercream
Filling - Lemon Cream
Border - Dots
Bow - Fondant
Servings - 25 to 35
Rolled buttercream is best kept very cold. It starts to melt when it gets warm and humid. It is also not as smooth as fondant. I was hoping to find a better tasting alternative to fondant. I didn't find it with rolled buttercream. Marshmallow fondant is a better alternative although it is a bit chewy and the finish is shiny. It works really well for a party cake, but probably not for a wedding cake. Brides usually prefer more of a matte finish. My best advice is go the extra mile for a good quality fondant. Give the cake a tasty crumb coat, and cut the fondant off. You just can't beat the versatility of good quality fondant.
